How Immigrants have benefited from the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

Millions of undocumented immigrants currently live in the United States. Most of these individuals have suffered injustice for years. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is a renowned organization that has was created by two distinguished journalists to ensure that immigrants in Arizona got justice.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who are the proprietors of the organization, named it after themselves. The body was started in 2013, and now supports more than 25 groups that fight for immigrant rights in Arizona. Jim and Michael founded the organization after they were awarded a $3.75 million settlement for being illegally detained by the Maricopa Sheriff, Joe Arpaio. All the money was invested in the founding of the charity.

Aliento is among the groups that receive money from the Frontera Fund. It was started by a few undocumented youths who were devoted to using art to ensure that there is reconciliation between communities across Arizona.

Donald Trump’s government currently threatens to deport millions of people who benefited from the DACA program, which was recently abolished. Most immigrants have been oppressed by unlawful policies that have been passed to target them. It has been difficult for them to get in-state tuition and driver’s licenses.

The activist foundation has been striving to protect individuals who are registered under the DACA programs. It was also on the frontline in defending the abolishment of the program by the Trump administration. Aliento urges churches, business, schools, and many other institutions across Arizona to support immigrants. It has also hosted several campaigns across the state to advocate for the rights of immigrants.

Lacey and Larkin have also been providing financial aid to Justice that Works. The charity was started to stop the mass arrest of immigrants, and it has currently gained influence in the grassroots. It has led several campaigns that aim at opposing the violation of immigrant rights and their deportation as a way of making the United States safe.

Justice that Works believes that government systems have currently become immoral by thinking that some people can be disposable. It feels that the harassment of immigrants has a negative impact on their safety, dignity, and equity. The organization works to abolish various laws that propagate poverty among immigrants.
